Another one of our most popular fish that our customers buy to start their own Shoal, the Sardine is finished in a beautiful blue gradient glaze. The Sardine is a very well known fish living in the waters around the UK and most notably in Cornwall where it drove a multi-million pound European trade from the 16th century onwards. The cry of 'Heva!' heard across the Cornish fishing villages from the lookout point looking out to sea was the signal that the Shoals of Sardines had been spotted! Each fish is unique, hand-painted and hand-finished in Sicily, Italy, and has a single hole and two loop-through holes in the mould to allow invisible mounting or hanging using wire, cord or tacks. Ceramic, 17cm, price per piece.
